Free 1:12 Dollhouse Room Box Blueprint – 14" × 10" × 10"

Every miniature scene needs a room to live in. This is ours: a simple, sturdy room box sized for real rooms at 1:12 scale, with plans you can download and build at home.

We designed it to be the one box you come back to. The 10" ceiling (10 feet in scale) gives tall pieces like bookcases, hutches and Christmas trees room to breathe. At 14" wide and 10" deep, there’s space for a proper scene, like a fireplace with a chair beside it or a shop counter with shelving behind, while still fitting comfortably on a shelf. The back wall is solid, so a fireplace, dresser or counter always has a home. Each side wall has a window opening, and a clear acrylic front slides up and out through the top, so you can reach in to rearrange and keep the dust out the rest of the time.

At a glance

• Interior: 14" W × 10" H × 10" D
• Materials: ¼" plywood or MDF for the walls and top, ½" for the base, ⅛" clear acrylic for the front, and a little ⅛" stripwood
• Skill level: a confident beginner’s project. If you’d rather not cut the large pieces yourself, most hardware stores will cut them to size from the cutting list.
